There’s just something magical about the smell of apples and spices simmering away in the kitchen. This crockpot apple butter is one of my favorite low-effort, high-reward recipes to make when fall rolls around. It’s thick, silky, and packed with rich apple flavor, perfect for spreading on toast, stirring into oatmeal, or honestly, just sneaking a spoonful straight from the jar.
The best part? It basically cooks itself. Toss everything in the slow cooker, give it a stir now and then, and let the magic happen. It’s a great way to use up extra apples, and it also makes the cutest homemade gift (especially paired with a loaf of fresh bread or a jar of cinnamon honey butter).
How to Make Crockpot Apple Butter
Add your apples and all the spices to the slow cooker.
Stir everything together until well mixed.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, giving it a stir every hour or so to keep things cooking evenly.
Once everything’s super soft and your kitchen smells amazing, turn off the slow cooker.
Use an immersion blender to blend it smooth right in the pot (or transfer to a blender if you prefer).
Let it cool for about an hour, then store or serve!
How should I store it?
Once it’s cooled, pop it into an airtight container or jar and store in the fridge for up to 3 months. You can also freeze it for up to a year, just thaw overnight in the fridge when you’re ready to use it.
