If you’ve been eyeing those Casa Mamita Churro Bites at Aldi, or maybe already tossed a box in your cart, you’ll want to take a closer look. A new Aldi product recall by the FDA has flagged one specific lot of these chocolate-hazelnut, filled treats for a serious labeling issue that could be dangerous for people with dairy allergies.
The problem? The product contains milk, but you’d never know it from the box. There’s no allergen warning printed on the packaging that the FDA requires, which means anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance could unknowingly eat it. And while the bites themselves aren’t spoiled or harmful for most people, missing allergen info like this is enough to trigger a full FDA-backed recall, for good reason.
What Product Is Being Recalled?
The recall affects Casa Mamita Churro Bites Filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream, which come in a 7.05-ounce cardboard box. These were sold in Aldi stores across the following 13 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
If you picked up a box, here’s what to look for:
- Lot Number: 01425
- Best If Used By: July 14, 2025
You’ll find both details printed on the side of the box. If it matches, it’s part of the recall, even if it looks and smells totally fine. For a side-by-side visual, you can check out product photos posted on the FDA’s website. And to be clear, this recall does not include any other Casa Mamita products or Aldi items, just this specific lot.
What Caused the Issue?
According to Camerican International, the company that makes the churro bites, the problem came from a temporary breakdown during the packaging process. Somewhere along the line, the allergen label was left off the box entirely. While the company has since resolved the issue on their end, the mislabeled batches had already shipped to stores.
At the time of this writing, there haven’t been any reports of allergic reactions or illnesses related to the bites, but the risk is there. Milk allergies can cause everything from digestive distress to life-threatening anaphylaxis, and a missing warning label is a serious oversight.
What Should You Do If You Have a Box?
If someone in your household has a milk allergy or sensitivity, don’t eat the product. You have two options:
- Return the box to your local Aldi for a full refund
- Or safely throw it out at home
No receipt is necessary for the refund. Aldi will accept the product as long as it matches the recalled lot.
If you don’t have a milk allergy, you’re in the clear. The recall doesn’t involve spoilage, contamination, or anything that would make the food unsafe to eat, just the labeling.

Food recalls like this one don’t always make big headlines, but they matter, especially if you or someone you cook for has food allergies. So before you serve those churro bites (or sneak one straight from the box), take a quick peek at the label. One minute of double-checking could save someone a trip to the ER.
